By 1942 several countries no longer have Level 1 tanks in use. This leads me to upgrade affected players to Level 2 tanks and to keep Graham's upgrade relevant he receives a Level 3 tank. Also U.S.A. enters the fray, meaning some players now change to U.S. tanks. I will be contacting everyone in the coming weeks to let them pick their new tank so we will be ready for 1942 by the campaign day.

The issuing of new upgraded tanks makes sense to me as countries did upgrade their forces in the field as newer technologies and designs became available.

Thank you for your cooperation.

lol! Like I'm giving you a choice about this desicion lol!

Graham is our first Tanker to reach "Ace" status.  He traded it for a Level 2 tank in Early 1941.

Our next campaign day will be 29th July.

After sorting all the cards I am missing a Wild Card bonus card.  Has anyone picked it hp by accident along with their rules when we were clearing up?

I hope we are all ready for Week 2 of the What A Tanker campaign tomorrow. We may have 2 new players joining in, which would bring us to 12 players.

I did notice an error on a few German players sheets, which I should have noticed & corrected at the time. I will sort it out tomorrow and award 1 "apology" tank kill to the other players in the campaign. I will also pay more attention when folks are picking tanks that we get the right stats down.

See you all tomorrow for the final battle in 1940 and we can see how many 1941 battles we can play. 1941 sees the entry of Russia to our tables. I wonder what mayhem that may bring?

David I have contacted both Bill and Mick as I know they are both very keen to play in your campaign. I will let you know as soon as they reply so you can include them if they wish to join in. Hope this is OK.

One week to go until What A Tanker campaign begins.

I will be contacting tank donors to make sure we know what needs to.be available for 1940 campaIgn year.

See you all next week. If you can't make it advance notice would be greatly appreciated.

With just over a week to go before the first shots are fired in our What A Tanker campaign I thought I'd remind folk I plan to start on 27th May.

We'll draw random nationalities (except Brian, he's French) & game tables/positions at beginning of the day. I'll be finalising all my paperwork & cards etc. and get stuff printed up next week so it's all there.

For quickness of setup I will dice for table scenarios & terrain in advance to help speed up setup.

Any questions?

PostSubject: MESSAGE DELETED   Tue Apr 24 2018, 12:17

Hi Eddie
I have deleted the message containing details about the club's funds.
John is absolutely correct, anyone and their dog can read these posts.

If you have information you wish to share on this matter it is probably best to announce it in person at the club.

Looking at last Sunday of the month to play so it doesn't clash with Falkirk, Deep Fried Lard & Claymore weekends.

@ Ed: Hopefully all 12 players will be able to be in each campaign week and the campaign may last 6 months, 1939 - 1945. Not as long if we get fast at playing the game & manage more than 3 games a day or possibly longer if 3 games in a day is too ambitious. Time will tell.

That's 12 players signed up so I am closing the list of players. Sorry to anyone who fancied playing and hasn't been able to sign up. There will no doubt be another campaign later.

Brian is happy to use his French tanks to start so he will be an Allied French player. This means that the Axis will have an Italian player.
Plans move closer to a fully formed idea.

I would be happy to join in, don't know enough about the tanks to say much about the French / Italian / Japanese issue.

Throwing this open to a group decision if anyone wants to participate.

There are lists for French, Italian, Japanese tanks in What A Tanker! Japanese would seem out of place against mostly European theatre tanks, so I'll probably give them a miss. Also don't think there are many 20mm Japanese tanks floating around in the club anyway.

French are only available in 1940 then choose from British or American tanks.
Italians are only available 40 - 43 and then choose from German tanks.

John said he could cover most, if not all, of the Italian tanks & I know Brian has French (although not what sort of selection.)

So this is the question. Do we wish a French player, two Russian, a British & two American against an Italian player & five German players or shall I just go with six Germans against 2 British, 2 Russian & 2 American.

The American lists don't start until 1942 so their commanders start using British in 1940 & switch to American on their entry to the war.

Feel free to have your say. No speaking up now, no complaining later! lol!

@ScotR
Yes you may be correct.  Although I believe if we set it for a single recurring Sunday, say first Sunday of the month, players know when the game is & hopefully would plan to be there.
If it's not on one day then you are having six players making arrangements to play a game that may only last one hour or two.
If we make it one day & games are short then we may get the 3 games for 1940 finished & move into 1941 games, etc.
Games should get quicker as folk grasp the rules & bookkeeping is pretty quick after a game too.

Sounds good. Only problem would be people's availability. Would be like herding sheep getting everyone in on a particular day.

So my thinking for format of campaign.
12 players, 2 tables of 6 players.
Play 3 games in a day, swapping players between tables so everyone has fought everyone.
After 3 games each campaign year advances opening up different tank options from before.
Run one Sunday a month for 6 months to find out Top Tanker!

What A Tanker! is being released this week.  I am looking forward to reading it and have decided to organise a campaign for anyone interested.  Details of what that will involve depend on how many are interested and if there is a suggested campaign method in the rules or if I'm making up a system for it.  I won't be playing in it, I'll be organising and umpiring it.  It will very probably be six player games as I will have enough tokens for that through the pre-order deal and it should run quick enough at that number.

So far the following have said they are interested:

1 - John
2 - Cameron
3 - Scott McDowall
4 - Stuart H
5 - Mick
6 - Lewis
7 - Scot R
8 - Allan
9 - Graham
10 - George
11 - Bill
12 - Brian

Dave McQ (depends on availability, but I have a plan!)

Feel free to send a message here to express your interest and  I'll add your name onto the list.

We'll start with 20mm games as there are plenty of available tanks (early to late) & terrain through the club & members to let everyone play.

Good Hunting,
Doc
